The following items are prohibited on campus:
- Firearms (law enforcement and on-duty security personnel excepted)
- Weapons, including knives, pepper spray and stun guns/tasers
- Prop weapons
- Full-face covering unless worn for medical or religious reasons; note that security may request a brief identity verification if necessary.
- Hazardous materials of any kind
- Explosives, including fireworks
- Drones
- Confetti and helium balloons
- Tripods, selfie sticks, and other professional photography equipment (without prior approval)
- Any other items deemed by staff to be dangerous or inappropriate in a public setting
Strollers are welcome throughout the campus, though we kindly ask that you use elevators rather than escalators. Please note that wagons and double-wide strollers are not permitted.
You are welcome to bring your own wheelchair or mobility aid. We also offer a limited number of wheelchairs on the ground floors of the Museum and the Forum. You are welcome to borrow one during your visit, however these wheelchairs are first-come, first-serve. We recommend that you check in at Coat Check in the lobby of the Museum to see if we have any available.
A limited number of lockers for luggage are available at the Museum Coat Check on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note, food and drinks are allowed in designated campus areas, but are not permitted in Museum Galleries or the Chicago Public Library. Seating in the Cafe and Restaurant is reserved for customers only.
